The pressure was firmly on Drake when he released his debut album ‘Thank Me Later’. After achieving such huge success with his ‘So Far Gone’ mixtape, many questioned if the rapper could live up to the high standards he’d already set with his previous work. Drizzy instantly silenced any doubters when his LP was released last month, shifting 462,989 copies in its first week of sales. He even confidently boasts on the albums lead single ‘Over’ saying, “Point the biggest sceptic out, I’ll make him a believer.”
The Young Money heartthrob has gained a legion of female admirers along the way and new single ‘Fancy’ – which features Swizz Beatz and T.I., is all about the ladies. “It’s just made to make women feel special,” Drizzy told MTV US News on the set of the video. “It’s a great performance video,” he adds.
The last time Drake dedicated a song to the ladies, the video didn’t quite match the sensitive lyrics of the song. Yep, we all remember the ‘Best I Ever Had’ video. But it’s unlikely he’ll make the same mistake. Drizzy has hired Anthony Mandler to direct this video, so I’m sure the vision will correctly portray the songs meaning.
