There is no surprise in hearing this news: Leonardo DiCaprio is withdrawing from a Mel Gibson-directed film about vikings, reports RadarOnline.com. No official reason has been given yet, but following Mel’s recent abusive phone calls and alleged violence towards his ex Oksana Grigorieva; it’s a little obvious to guess why Leo wouldn’t want to be associated with anything Gibson.
“Not a chance,” said a source, close to the Inception star, when asked if he was still planning to star in Gibson’s next project.
I really can’t see how Mel can bounce back from this one. He’s racist rants and boarder-line psychotic behavior, has already lead him to being dropped by his longtime production company and most actors in Hollywood do not want to be associated with him.
Leo may be staying well clear of Mel, but Jodie Foster isn’t. Eonline reposts the veteran actress fully expects a theatrical release of The Beaver, the dramedy she directed about a man (Gibson) who develops a friendship with a hand puppet.
Foster will also appear in the movie and although the studio haven’t set an official release date, they’re hoping maybe in a year or two, when the drama surrounding Gibson calms down.
In two years time Mel will probably no longer be in the news headlines everyday, but somehow I don’t see the public being enthusiastic about going to the theatre to watch him on the big screen. Sorry Jodie.
