Meet The Geordie Shore Gang!

The yanks have (had) The Hills, The City and Jersey Shore. Scripted ‘reality’ shows are TV gold in America and us Brits lap it up. I LOVED The Hills – “You know what you did”.

But here in the UK we’ve tried in vain to copy these successful US shows, with Brit adaptations, and they usually flop. Remember the British version of Laguna Beach? No, neither did I. I think it was called Living On The Edge, and it was duller than a plank of wood. And then there was the British version of My Sweet 16. The US version was annoying, but vaguely watchable and embarrassingly entertaining, but the Brit version was just annoying.

Well, that was all until a bunch not so bright, overly-tanned, surgery obsessed, lovable group of Essex guys and gals came into our lives. The Only Way Is Essex has proven that scripted reality British shows do work. I know it’s a bit of a silly show, but hey, so was The Hills, but it’s trash TV at its best. TOWIE is my new reality fix. If you don’t watch it, you really should check it out, it’s pretty reem (Essex slang for very good).

Following the huge success of the ITV reality show, other shows have jumped on the bandwagon. There’s a new show based in Chelsea starting in a couple weeks. But the one that I think will be the next best thing is MTV’s Geordie Shore. Yep, it’s like Jersey Shore, but based in Newcastle….

Make way for 8 loud and proud Geordie lads and lasses who promise to show you a summer you’ll never forget!

From the city that gave us Cheryl Cole, Ant & Dec and Gazza, the UK’s latest reality fix Geordie Shore launches on MTV on Tuesday 24 May @10pm.

Inspired by the hit US phenomenon, Jersey Shore, the glamorous city of Newcastle becomes the latest stomping ground for this gang of tanned and buffed individuals, ready for 6 weeks of unadulterated partying toon-style.

Living in a gorgeous five star house complete with shared bedrooms, a shag-pile outhouse for ‘special visitors’ and a hot tub, MTV cameras will catch all the action as they work during the day for a promotions company and then get their tash on at night, at some of the most renowned hotspots on the Diamond Strip.

There’ll be tears, tantrums, drama and outrageous behaviour by the bucket-load… and that’s just from the boys!

Check out the cast below, and make a big fat note in your diaries for when Geordie Shore hits your screens, Tuesdays @ 10pm, starting 24 May – only on MTV.

Jay
Jay, 24: Diva Jay is rarely pictured with his top on, but who can blame him with a body as buff as his? ‘Whoever’ & ‘whenever’ is his mantra in life.
Holly
Holly, 18: Describing herself as the most real ‘fake’ person you’ll ever come across, Holly often rounds off the night by getting into a scrap.

James
James, 20: His quest in life is to pull as many girls as possible and in his own words: ‘why not go out and get pissed, get naked and have fun!’
Sophie
Sophie, 21: She is a tomboy at heart but has no problem dancing on tables or flashing her boobs- basically anything goes for this pint sized bundle of fun.
Vicky, 23: She likes shopping or going to the gym, which are the only two activities in her world that don’t involve alcohol.

Charlotte Letitia
Charlotte-Letitia, 20; She says ‘girls call me a slut, ex-boyfriends call me a psycho and my Mum calls me an idiot.’

Greg, 26: Newcastle to Greg is like one big fishbowl and he equates himself to a shark out on patrol.

Gary, 23: He has a manhood that’s the size of a TV remote control (he even has photographic evidence) and being “mint” in bed… or so he says!

Looks like a good must watch. Ohhhh I do love me a bit of trash TV.

  1. I cannot wait for this show to start. As a Geordie myself, I can’t wait to see how they come across on the TV. I hope they do us proud!

If Jersey Shore is anything to go by, this should be amazing!

I’ve also setup a Geordie Shore Fan Site to keep everyone updated on gossip that happens in Newcastle.
