Cheryl Cole has hired Will.I.Am as her manager to help her break America, according to reports. Until now Chezza’s manager has been Hilary Shaw, who also looks after Girls Aloud, but it’s thought the Promise This singer wanted someone familiar with the US market to help take her career to the next level.
The News of the World reports that the Black Eyed Peas frontman has been enlisted for the job, along with his business partner Seth Friedman, and they are already at work negotiating her deal for The X Factor USA.
“This is all about taking Cheryl’s career to a whole new level,” a source told the tabloid. “Will.I.Am believes in her to the degree where he’s prepared to stake his reputation on making her a success. He’s going to be responsible for her career worldwide.
“One of the great things about Will is that he believes in Cheryl as a musician and singer as well,” they continued. “He’s intimately involved in all the big decisions, as is Seth, who is a behind-the-scenes guy but very well respected.”
The insider insists there are no bad feelings between the star and Hilary, who will still manage her charitable foundation as well as Girls Aloud. “Hilary has been brilliant for Cheryl but the fact is she needed someone who was well known in America to push things forward,” they said.
It’s been reported that the star has decided against changing her Geordie accent for the US, believing instead that her strong accent will help her stand out.
