BAFTAS 2012: Winners List!

French silent movie The Artist(which I still haven’t seen yet and probably wont anytime anytime soon) was the King of The BAFTAs, taking home six awards, including best actor and the coverted best picture gong. The British equivalent to the Oscars was a celeb packed affair, with the likes of Hollywood royalty Brad Brit (swoon), George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Martin Scorsese all in attendance.

While Hollywood hunks Pitt and Clooney went home empty handed, Brit actor Adam Deacon took the Orange Rising Star award (CONGRATS). The Hackney born actor has been doing his thiing for many years now, so it was great to see him be recognised on such a huge level.

Cheryl Cole To Star In Hollywood Movie With Cameron Diaz & Jennifer Lopez!

Her American X-Factor dream may have only lasted a mere few days, but it seems Cheryl Cole May be cracking the US afterall. According to reports the Brit singer is inline to star in a Hollywood movie alongside A-listers Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez.

The former X Factor star is said to be in “advanced talks” to play a talent show judge who assesses Diaz’s character in upcoming film What to Expect When You’re Expecting.

“This is a bit of fun for Cheryl. She will film the scenes imminently and is really looking forward to it,” a source told the Daily Mail.

“It doesn’t mean she suddenly wants to become an actress. It was just an opportunity that has come up while she has been having some downtime and she thought it would be great fun to take part.”

Cole is said to have impressed movie executives during a four-day appearance at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Chris RockIsla Fisher and Elizabeth Banks are all attached to star in the Lionsgate project, based on the best-selling pregnancy bible of the same name.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting tells the story of six different couples who are each preparing to welcome a child. The movie follows them up to the delivery of their babies.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting is due to be released on May 11, 2012.

I respect Cheryl’s determination. Being dumped from the US X-Factor was a huge humiliation, so it’s good to see her still pushing forward with her”American dream’.

Angelina Jolie To Give Up Acting?

No the screen siren is not giving up films, but Angelina Jolie has admitted that she’s lost some passion for acting. During a recent interview with the Finacial Times, the Salt actress reveals that in the future she plans to make less films and focus more on motherhood.

“As Brad and I get older we’re going to do fewer films,” Jolie revealed. “I’ve been working for a long time, he’s been working for a long time, we’ve had a nice run and don’t want to be doing this our whole lives. There are a lot of other things to do.”

The 36-year-old star confessed, “I don’t love [acting] as much [as I did]. I love being a mom,” before adding that she doesn’t plan to actually quit the Biz anytime soon.

“I’ve never not been grateful to be an actor, but I think when I was younger I needed [acting] more,” Jolie said. “I was trying to question things in life so you find these characters that help you find things and grow.”

“[Acting is] like being in therapy, in a way,” she continued. “You’re drawn to certain roles because they question something about life, or about love, or about freedom. You ask these questions as you grow up: am I strong enough, am I sane enough? Do I understand love, do I understand myself? I’m older and I know who I am, and I’m less interested in the character helping me answer something than in being able to answer it for myself, as a woman, as an adult, with my family.”

MTV Movie Awards: Sandra Bullock & Scarlett Kiss

Last night was the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and in true MTV style there’s always some OMFG moments. In the past we’ve had the infamous Madonna, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears kiss, Britney’s shambolic performance, Borat Sticking his bare buttocks in Eminem‘s face and Kanye West stage rushing Taylor Swift. And this year was no exception.

Sandra Bullock has been all over the tabloids and Gossip magazines recently. This year the veteran actress won her first Oscar, but that joy was shot lived and overshadowed by the revelations of her husband, biker Jesse James, cheating on her with numerous woman, most notoriously with Michelle ‘the bombshell’ Mcgee.

Since then the tabloids have been following Bullock like a plague. The actress had been in hiding for weeks, but when she did finally emerge in the public eye, she revealed to the world she had adopted a little baby boy ( Louis from New Orleans).

The MTV Movie Awards was one of her first official red carpet events since the whole scandal broke and my my did she make it one to remember. The Blind Sight actress locked lips with fellow sexy actress Scarlet Johansson.

It’s never a dull day at an MTV Awards bash.

Its Official | Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Lands Transformers Role

Its official: British Victoria Secrets model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will replace Megan Fox as Shia Labeouf’s love interest in the third instalment of the popular movie franchise.

Transformers Director Michael Bay announced the news last night on his official website:

“I would like for all you S4TE fans to welcome Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to the world of Transformers. As some of you might know, she’s the new female lead in Transformers 3.”

Let’s hope Rosie is less out-spoken than her predecessor.

Sarah Jessica Parker Is Hoping For Sex And The City 3

Sex And The City 2 may have been pipped by Shrek in the US box office, but Carrie and the gang managed to get the #1 spot here in the UK charts.

SJP revealed that she’d like to see a third instalment, saying:

“I hope Carrie will live on. She will live on — even if the movies don’t. I feel blessed that we’ve told so many stories about these lovely characters.”

If I’m being complexly honest I wasn’t too impressed with the second movie. It was entertaining (I guess), but it had nothing on the first movie. But with that said, I absolutely love SATC and I REALLY hope they make third one, I believe they’ll get it right this time and it just might be better than the first movie.

Last year George Tillman Jr gave us, Notorious, a movie documenting the life and death of Notorious B.I.G. Now Training Day director, Antoine Fuqua has revealed to Digital Spy that he’ll begin production on a Tupac biopic, which will begin filming as early as this September. Fuqua didn’t give any details as to who will play the main man, but said his goal is to “discover someone new.”

“It looks like we’re doing Tupac Shakur’s movie next in September, that’s what I’ve been starting up and working on now,” he said. “I’ve been working on that for a while with Morgan Creek and Jim Robinson. I just got the greenlight from him and we’re going in September. I’ve just started to prep that.”

“That’s the goal, I want to discover someone new,” he explained. “I want to discover a lot of new people if I can. Obviously I’m going to have to put some people in it that you know, just because actors have different skills. I want to go to the streets and find him anywhere he might be in the world.”

Sex And The City 2: The Wait Is Finally Over {28.05.10}

The day has finally arrived. The count down ends today, because ladies (and gents) Sex And The City 2 is officially out TODAY. And against all temptation, I have waited for this day, its official release day, to see the movie. Tonight I’m meeting up with some girlfriends – who are all Sex And The City fanatics like myself – we’re going to have some girlie chit chat over Cosmopolitans (of course) and then watch the movie – Yaaay!

As a tribute to the movie’s release, I present you……

Five Iconic Things From Sex And The City

New York

New York is a fabulous city: The Big Apple, NYC, The City That Never Sleeps, The Concrete Jungle, whatever you want to call it, it’s simply amazing. There’s just sooo much to do. You could never get bored there. It’s also a very inspiring place t be. In the words of Alicia Keys; “The lights will inspire you,” and that’s so true. Every time I’m in NY I feel like anything is possible, the skies the limit. I spend a lot of time there and I just can’t get enough of it. Sex And The City director and writer Michael Patrick King often describes New York as the unofficial 5th character… that’s so true.

Carrie Bradshaw single handedly put Cosmo’s on the map for many young women around the world. I was about 13 years old when I started watching Sex And The City and I remember thinking ‘when I’m old enough to go to bars, I’m going to have a Cosmo’ – yep, that’s a true story. In the 90’s Sex And The City popularized the vodka based Martini glass drink, making it the drink of choice for the sassy independent big city girl. In the first movie instalment, Carrie says she stopped drinking Cosmo’s “because everyone else started,” but no matter what, Cosmopolitan’s will forever be associated with the show, as the favourite drink of its iconic lead character.

Bungalow 8

When Carrie went to the exclusive Bungalow 8, a club that requires guests to have a ‘special key’ in order to gain entry, it seemed like everybody in town wanted to visit the exclusive venue and see just what was inside the famous Bungalow.  Unfortunately I haven’t been to the New York one. When I was last in New York it was closed for refurbishment.

But I am a regular in the London Bungalow 8. There’s no special key, but their saying is “What happens in 8 stays in 8.” So I can’t really say too much, as I’m sworn to secrecy haha. What I will say is it’s a great place. I always have the most fun when I’m there. I highly recommend it. Next time I’ll hit up the NYC branch. They’ve actually got one in Amsterdam now as well – I definitely have to check that out real soon.

Ann Summers Rampant Rabbit

The Rampant Rabbit is a popular vibrator, specially designed by UK lingerie store Ann Summers. The rabbit has always been a popular product, but when Sex And The City sexpot, Samantha Jones used the Rabbit in season one, sales of the bunny inspired vibrator shot to new highs, making it a global must have. Since the airing of that SATC episode, many retailers sell products that are inspired by or similar, but the actual genuine Rampant Rabbit can only be bought in Ann Summers, anything else is simply an imitation. And fashionista’s like Carrie and co don’t do imitation.

I haven’t tried the Rabbit myself, so unfortunately I can’t give you any personal feedback, but I was watching GMTV recently and Holly Willoughby and guests were reviewing a selection of sex toys and they gave the Rabbit top marks, saying it was definitely one of the best on the market. Once again SATC never steers us wrong.

Manolo Blahnik’s

Shopping and fashion is one of the most important things in Sex And The City. Carrie Bradshaw is an international style icon. I actually can’t name a better dressed individual. One of Carrie’s biggest fashion loves is shoes: Jimmy Choo’s, Christian Louboutin, Karen Millen, you name it, if it’s hot, she’s wearing it. And she starts trends, never follows. The shoe that I’d say represents Carrie the most has got to be Manolo Blahnik’s. She made you want a pair of Manolo’s, even if they were slightly past your usual footwear budget.

Despite SATC making Monolo Blahnik’s a fashion must-have and one of the most iconic shoes in fashion history, the 67 year old Spanish designer is fed up of being associated with the hit show, claiming he never wanted to be a “celebrity designer.” Although he credits the series for helping turn his shoes into a big money-making empire, he’s keen to distance himself from it.

“If people talk to me about Sex And The City, I get sick,” he revealed in an interview with The Sunday Telegraph on Sept. 6 last year. “The taxi drivers recognize me now. It becomes too much and I don’t feel comfortable. I have never wanted to be a celebrity designer.”

Well he most certainly won’t like this post then, not that he’s ever going to see it anyway, so it’s all good. That’s gratitude for you though, isn’t it? We still love your shoes though Mr. Blahnik.

So there you have it. Five iconic things about Sex And The City. I can’t wait to see the movie tonight.

Skins: The Movie

Skins is officially being made into a movie. The controversial British TV series has continued to be successful, despite changing its entire cast. I watched the first series of the show and thought it was great. Its gritty portrayal of teen life is very real and reflects reality in many parts of the country.

The movie is set for release in summer of 2011 and will follow a whole new set of teens, but will also feature some familiar faces.

Steve Christian, one of the film’s producers, said in a statement:

The biggest critics of Skins are the Skins fans so it’s going to be a big challenge. The programme has this incredible fanbase despite all the characters changing. Skins has grown in popularity with more than 1.5 million people tuning in to the start of the recent fourth series. Although its target audience is teenagers, it has become something of a guilty pleasure for curious viewers far older. Look, I’m a middled aged bloke with two kids, I should hate Skins but I absolutely love it. And then I talk to my mates, people not in the film industry, and it’s the same thing – they watch it and they love it and it’s all down to the quality of the production. Turning TV shows into films doesn’t happen so much these days, probably because there’s not the material out there. But what we don’t want to do is to make a 90 minute episode of Skins. It would be a complete disaster.

Charles Martin will direct the movie and staff writer Jack Thorne will be handling the screenplay

Jada x Will x Jay-Z x Beyonce In NYC

Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith met up with Hip-hop power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce in New York last night at the Palm West in honor of the Broadway Play “FELA”.  The play – which is funded by both Will and Jay – is based on the life of Nigerian Afro-beat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

Will and Jada are such a beautiful couple and they’ve been going strong for so many years – something that’s incredibly rare in Hollywood.
